DESCRIPTION: 8-foot high by 200-foot wide community mural painted on approx. 50 wall-mounted 4-foot by 8-foot wood panels
This extensive community mural is located east of the Watts Historic Train Station. It includes cultural and historic symbols and images, as well as portraits of local leaders (Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass, Simon Rodia, Arturo Ybarra, Wajeha Bilal). The mural was the product of a community engagement process and was sponsored by the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations' "LA VS. HATE" initiative, in partnership with Build Plus Community Marketplace. It was unveiled on March 4, 2023.
On the same fence approximately 40 feet to the south is another mural, 8-feet high by 68-feet long, by an unknown artist(s). It is titled 'I LOVE WATTS' and is assumed to be a privately executed artwork. It is shown below.
