DESCRIPTION: bronze bust of Arcadia Bandini de Baker, mounted on a 4-foot by 18-inch by 18-inch granite pedestal
This bronze bust of Southern California landowner and philanthropist Arcadia Bandini de Baker (1827–1912) is located in Palisades Park in Santa Monica, California. The sculpture by Masahito Sanae was dedicated on October 18, 1987, and honors her generous donations of land to the city, including portions of the park itself.
Arcadia Bandini de Stearns Baker (1827-1912) was an early California landowner, socialite and benefactor in Los Angeles and as "the great benefactress of Santa Monica." At the time of her death she was one of the wealthiest women in the United States. Sanae's bronze bust depicts her in a traditional Spanish headdress.
