Tom Otterness

DESCRIPTION:  assemblage installation of vignettes of cast bronze figures arranged conceptually in an upward progression, mounted on a tiered fountain

This assemblage installation  illustrates one of Otterness' most intentionally thematic public artworks:  the progression and evolution of knowledge and education, from early literacy to higher education.  The multi-tiered slab fountain, integral to the installation's concept, was designed by architect Peter Tolken.
LOCATION:  Village Plaza, west of Indian Hill Blvd. between First Street and Second Street, Claremont, California, USA
