"The Maypole Tree" (2006, 2008) by Fritzie Urquhart

DESCRIPTION: 20-foot high steel, copper, and fabric sculpture, consisting of 45 yards of marine fabric stretched over 200 linear feet of copper tubing, with silver bells attached to the ends of the curled fabric ribbons
This sculpture was previously installed in 2006 as part of the Urban Trees Project at the San Diego Embarcadero. The original silver bells attached to the curled fabric, seen here in Urquhart's early image, no longer exist.
