DESCRIPTION: 102-inch high by 186-inch wide wall-mounted glass mosaic with photograph images Lubika Selecka's mosaic depicts the Ocean Institute's signature vessel, "Spirit of Dana Point," which replaced an earlier replica of tall ship "Pilgrim" which sank at its Dana Point dock on March 29, 2020. Selecka incorporates a photo-emulsion process to imprint photographs of herself, family, friends, and her dog as passengers at the ship railing. The mosaic includes the note "photo courtesy of Cliff Wassmann." Selecka's mosaic is one of four installed at the Doheny Beach Pedestrian Bridge completed in May 2009. The mosaic is partnered with Selecka's 2009 Dana Point in 1933 mosaic. Across Pacific Coast Highway are the two other mosaics, Surfers at Sunset (2009) and Breaching Gray Whale (2009), by Lance Jost.
