DESCRIPTION: 89-inch high by 176-inch wide wall-mounted ceramic and ceramic tile, stone, and glass mosaic
Lance Jost's mosaic depicts a breaching whale with sailboats and surfers in the background, and incorporates ceramic sculptural detail (see below).
Jost's mosaic is one of four installed at the Doheny Beach Pedestrian Bridge that was completed in May 2009. It is partnered with Jost's Surfers at Sunset (2009) mosaic. Across Pacific Coast Highway are the two other mosaics, Dana Point in 1933 (2009) and Tall Ship (2009), both by Lubika Selecka .
