DESCRIPTION: 12-foot high by 6-foot by 6-foot stainless steel, copper, brass and nickel, and copper-nickel sculpture, mounted on a 6-foot diameter concrete base
This sculpture is a memorial tribute to the victims of the 9/11 disaster. It was installed September 8, 2002, and the dedication plaque states the following: "a symbol of our nation's renewed strength and unity, blending five separate metals ... to form a sculpture representing our nation's diversity. The monument faces the East Coast as a Tribute."
Artist's statement: "the Unity Monument [is] a 16' tall creation of five dissimilar metals welded together to become a monolithic rising and twisting structure symbolizing the rebirth of American Unity after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center buildings." - Patrick Vogel
