DESCRIPTION:   array of 10 multi-colored powder-coated aluminum "butterfly" sculptures mounted on poles

Bazan's "butterfly" array is the signature installation for Marina View Park's 60-foot by 50-foot Mariposa Garden.  It is the first public artwork to be funded by the City of Costa Mesa, and was unveiled at a January 30, 2024 dedication ceremony.  The Mariposa Garden is located on a small hillside at the west end of the Marina View Park parking lot.  
 Artist's statement“It’s an installation dedicated to the community to celebrate beauty, transformation, and the resilience of embracing one’s true self as we constantly evolve...”  “I invite the public to feel the magic in these sculptures and reflect on a caterpillar’s journey, a rebirth of sorts that transforms into a butterfly no matter what circumstances you’re in.”  - Marisabel Bazan
