DESCRIPTION: 9-foot high cast bronze statue of Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin, mounted on a 4-foot painted concrete plinth
Alfred Paredes titled this large bronze statue of Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin, the late nineteenth century California pioneer, "A Dawn in the West." It was commissioned and donated to the City of Arcadia by Baldwin's great-great-great-granddaughters Margaux Gibson-Viera and Heather Gibson, and it was dedicated on April 16, 2013. The statue was oriented northwest to show Baldwin looking toward what had been his nearby home and ranch at the Hugo Reid Adobe, which was later moved to the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
