DESCRIPTION: 48-inch high by 41-inch by 32-inch fired clay sculpture mounted on a 4-foot by 4-foot by 1-foot concrete base
The title of Voulkos' 1958 sculpture is listed variously by Norton Simon Museum staff and archives. The sculpture's on-site title plaque indicates 'Black Divide - Butte,' yet the Norton Simon's catalog data lists the title as 'Black Butte Divide' (see below). At the sculpture's 2010 re-installation, curator Christina Angela Fisher reportedly referred to the piece as 'Black Divide Butte. '
