This Mattson sculpture was dedicated April 25, 1992 and is surrounded by native vegitation and national and international flags. DESCRIPTION FROM THE SMITHSONIAN: "Full length male Cahuilla shaman stands on a round base. The figure has long hair and wears a loincloth. An owl, a guardian spirit who can predict future events, is perched on the figure's proper right shoulder. The base is stamped with a design of 'xwalxwal,' the Cahuilla word for 'spider.'
