Makua and Kila (2001)

DESCRIPTION:  two piece cast bronze sculpture with verdigris patina, mounted on carved stone and surrounded by a fountain and landscaping

This sculpture was inspired by the Fred Van Dyke story "Makua Lives on the Beach" about a young boy's friendship with a Hawaiian monk seal.  The sculpture is featured in the Google Arts & Culture on-line exhibit  "Surfing Culture and Public Art".
