DESCRIPTION:  20-foot by 40-foot sculptural and hardscape installation consisting of 
  • three "Opuntia/Prickly Pear cactus" sculptures faced with ceramic tile mosaic (12-foot high by 6-foot by 2-foot;  10-foot high by 4-foot by 1.5-foot; 4.5-foot high by 3.5-foot by 1-foot)
  • approx. 100-foot long "California King snake" ceramic tile pavement mosaic


This sculptural installation for the Brea Blackstone public art project is one of the most creative of Bartels' total of nine for the project.  It incorporates images of native animals and insects on the cactus sculptures that are encircled by the King snake pavement mosaic.  
This ensemble is site 2 of Bartels' eight-site public art project along Brea's Santa Fe Road bike and pedestrian path.
