DESCRIPTION: sculptural and hardscape installation, consisting of
This sculpture is site six of Bartels' eight-site Brea Blackstone public art project along the Santa Fe Road bike and pedestrian path. Paleontological 1 is Bartels' title for distinguishing this installation from its companion piece Paleontological 2 directly to the south.
- 8-foot high by 4-foot diameter "triton sea shell" sculpture faced with ceramic tile mosaic
- 15-inch by 12-foot curvilinear tinted concrete bench embedded with quartz crystal chips
- tinted concrete pavement embedded with quartz crystal chips and ceramic mosaic insets of shell images
