"Paleontological 2" (circa 2017) by Marlo Bartels

DESCRIPTION: sculptural and hardscape installation, consisting of
  • approx. 8-foot high by 2-foot diameter conical shell sculpture
  • 8-foot long curvilinear tinted concrete bench faced with quartz crystal chips
  • tinted concrete pavement faced with quartz crystal chips and embedded with ceramic mosaic insets of shell images
This sculpture is site 6 of Bartels' eight-site Brea Blackstone public art project along the Santa Fe Road bike and pedestrian path. "Paleontological 2" is Bartels' title for distinguishing this installation from the companion piece "Paleontological 1" directly to the north.
