DESCRIPTION: 88-inch high by 32-inch wide by 107-inch long life-size cast bronze statue of international surfer Joyce Hoffman riding her surfboard, mounted on a tapered 4-foot high concrete plinth
Joyce Hoffman, a native of Dana Point, California, is considered the first female international surfing star. As a surfing athlete and competitor at an early age, she won international competitions and distinguished honors as a talented professional surfer [Wikipedia]. The statue was unveiled January 27, 2022 at Watermen's Plaza, and was later joined by Limebrook's 2025 statues of her father and uncle, Walter and Phillip "Flippy" Hoffman, on July 31, 2025.
Limebrook's statue of Joyce Hoffman represents Dana Point's historic surfing and sailing culture, in company with nine other statues of famous Dana Point watersport athletes, filmmakers, artists, and entrepreneurs. Below is a list of the Watermen's Plaza public artworks.
