DESCRIPTION: three identical 84-inch by 100-inch acrylic-on-stucco murals, painted on three sides of a four-sided, 60-foot high, 12-foot by 12-foot, cell tower structure, with p.m. lighting
This 3-mural installation on the sides of a Verizon cell tower structure serves as a visual landmark for the Tzeitel Parras-Caracci Park and community garden. Art Mortimer explains that the murals were painted while the stucco box structure was still on the ground, then hoisted by crane and mounted. Mortimer's image of a historic citrus packing crate label from the area's early citrus growing history, combined with the tower's Craftsman design features, present the structure as a cultural landmark marking the park entrance.See Art Mortimer.

Cell Tower Designs and Murals
Two cell tower designs by Verizon Wireless, the 4-sided "landmark tower" design and a circular "water tower" design, incorporate public art with the inclusion of graphics or murals illustrating local culture and history. For comparison, a third cell tower design without public art is shown with a "weathervane" style. These designs reflect a notable divergence from the earliest "stealth" cell tower designs that camouflaged towers with large and arguably generic tree designs.
