Peace Memorial (1991)

 DESCRIPTION:  3-piece 10-foot high by 32-foot by 30-foot Carrara marble and granite sculpture, mounted on a 3-tiered triangular marble base and flanked by five 10-foot high granite columns 
Váró and Andrews' Peace Memorial at the Palm Desert's Civic Center Park honors the community's veterans.  Sculpturally, the flame-like white marble sculpture is intended to symbolize peace, in the shadow of the gray monolyths that bear the names of desert residents who lost their lives defending peace.  The memorial also includes the text of a letter from Colin Powell, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1991.
