DESCRIPTION: life-size cast bronze statue of General Emiliano Zapata
This life-size statue of Mexican General Emiliano Zapata includes a plaque containing the sobriquet "Cuauhtli del sur," which has been translated as "Eagle of the south." Other more well known sobriquets for Zapata in Spanish or Náhuatl/Aztec include "Calpuleque" (Náhuatl: leader, chief), "Caudillo" (Spanish: military/political leader), "El Tigre" (Spanish: the tiger), and "El Tigrillo" (Spanish: the little tiger).
The statue is situated at the northern end of San Diego's Chicano Park and the famous Chicano Park Murals.
