DESCRIPTION: three 18-foot diameter multi-media chandeliers, suspended from the ceiling of the four story-high Bradley Wing Atrium
As a glass artist, sculptor and painter, Therman Statom's three chandeliers exhibit his multi-media range as well as a whimsical collection of sculptures of ordinary objects - bird, house, vase, tree trunk. According to Statom, the work reflects the themes of "natural, technological, and metaphysical spheres of existence." The best viewing perspective is from the library's third level.See also: "The Central Library at 90: Public Art Abounds" Artist's statement: "I feel that art is tool for empowerment and education.
