DESCRIPTION:  8-foot high cast cement statue, mounted on a 6-foot stepped concrete plinth

Monrahan's cast cement sculpture in the Art Deco style depicts the City of Santa Monica's namesake saint.  Part of the New Deal's Public Works of Art Project, the City of Santa Monica provided additional funding for the sculpture's materials.  It was dedicated on May 4, 1935 as part of the City's "Pioneer Days" event.
