DESCRIPTION: 22-ft high stencil-cut painted aluminum, stainless steel, and neon tubing sculpture, consisting of:
Stencil-cut aluminum sculpture spelling “Los Angeles” in script letters (written in the artist’s own script)
22-foot high, ceiling-suspended, red-painted sheet stainless steel “heart” sculpture, backlit with neon tubing
540 linear feet of colored neon tubing, mounted onto horizontal concrete ceiling beams (designed to form a cylindrical “rainbow of light”)
This ambitious and unprecedented installation for downtown Los Angeles was installed and debuted on March 3, 2022 as a response to the COVID pandemic. Although It was given an initial 2-year display term, the installation can be considered permanent. For more information, see artist Tory DiPietro.
