Artist Eamon Ore-Giron designed murals in an art deco style intended to evoke the historic art deco buildings along the Wilshire Boulevard corridor - the Deco Building being a primary inspiration. The murals cover escalator and mezzanine walls as well as the Wilshire / La Brea station's street-level free-standing exterior walls. The exterior walls of the entrance pavilion also include colorful p.m. lighting. Artist's statement:“Designed to be viewed from the windows of a traveling car, [the Wilshire corridor’s] architecture reflects the importance of the automobile and the changing technology of the early 20th century. The development of [this Metro line extension represents the next step in the evolution of transportation in this city.” - MetroArt
