DESCRIPTION: Station art consisting of:
Aguirre's bold architectural archways and colorful mosaics combine to make the Azusa Station one of the most unique and notable Metro L Line/Gold Line stations, and his designs were inspired by local historic architecture as well as by the area's earliest cultural traditions.
The colorful mosaics are based on native Gabrielino basket weaving designs and were created with assistance from Azusa Pacific University students and El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument.
- two 16-foot glass fiber reinforced concrete and painted steel archways with inset glass mosaic panels,
- column-mounted glass mosaic panels,
- concrete pavement stencils, and
- local aggregate rock pavement designs
