 DESCRIPTION:  approx. 15-foot high by 11.5-foot by 8-foot 3-piece ceramic tile mosaic-covered sculpture

This sculpture is at site eight of Bartels' eight-site Brea Blackstone public art project.  It is one of the pair Gems and Gems 2 by Bartels at each end of the nine total sculptural installations along the Santa Fe Road bike and pedestrian path.

BLACKSTONEBlackstone - where science, art, and history convergeBlackstone Art Project, created and designed by Marlo Bartels, takes youon a journey, perhaps it is your first or hundredth time, each time givingyou something more.  As you walk along Blackstone's half a mile multi-usetrail you find yourself immersed in a towering oil derrick, larger than lifecacti, and within a single drop of water, each of the eight structural sitesbeautiful with its hand crafted tiles, interlaced together creating one of akind art and with an educational story.  Find yourself in a variety ofcaptivating landscapes.  Learning about what was and what is.  Take a strollalong the Blackstone interpretive trail and discover nature, history and art.
