Bartels' ceramic mosaic public artworks are popularly found in Laguna Beach. This mosaic bench at the entrance to the Laguna Art Museum was donated by Suzanne and Ted Paulson. Bartels' recent 2023 Memorial Benches in Heisler Park are nearby, 200 feet to the south, as well as his earlier Canyon Chess and Checkers (1981) on the sand at Main Beach Park.
