DESCRIPTION: 8-foot high by 125-foot long acrylic paint memorial mural
Sergio Ramirez's memorial mural accompanied the 2016 dedication of the surrounding Jenni Rivera Memorial Park by the City of Long Beach. His Spanish title Mariposa De Barrio translates loosely to "Neighborhood Butterfly." An alternate title for the mural is the Jenni Rivera Memorial Mural.
Jenni Rivera was a popular and pathbreaking singer, songwriter, actress, and philanthropist whose music focused on regional Mexican Banda, Mariachi, and Norteño styles. A native of Long Beach and active in her community, her death in a 2012 plane crash prompted numerous tributes.
