DESCRIPTION:   6-foot high by 3-foot by 2-foot cast bronze statue of Msgr. Oscar Arnulfo Romero, mounted on a 3-foot by 3-foot by 2-foot concrete pedestal/base, with a bronze plaque containing a quotation in English and in Spanish [below]

Lopez' bronze memorial statue to Msgr. Oscar Romero is accompanied by Francisco Mejia's Spire of Doves/Arbol de la Paz pole-mounted sculpture of white doves in flight.
According to the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Joaquin Antonio Serrano Lopez' memorial statue of Msgr. Oscar Arnulfo Romero and Francisco Mejia's dove sculpture were facilitated and funded by the Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund (SALEF), with assistance from the El Salvador Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Los Angeles City Redevelopment Agency.  The El Salvador Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended invitations for artworks to both artists based on their artistic expertise and cultural sensitivity to the project.
