DESCRIPTION: 130½-inch high by 58-inch wide by 38-inch long life-size cast bronze statue and sculpture of brothers Phillip Hoffman and Walter Hoffman posing with a 9½-foot high surfboard, mounted on a tapered 4-foot high concrete plinth Philip Rube "Flippy" Hoffman (1930-2010) and his brother Walter Hoffman, Dana Point natives, were big wave surfing pioneers and innovative businessmen known for developing early surfing culture attire with tropical and batik features. Both were honored in the Huntington Beach Surfing Walk of Fame in 2006. The statues were unveiled July 31, 2025. Walter Hoffman's daughter Joyce Hoffman, considered the first female international surfing star and athlete, was honored in 2022 with her own life-size statue by Bill Limebrook nearby at the south end of Watermen's Plaza.
