Richard Serra

DESCRIPTION:   64-foot high by 20-foot wide, 360-ton, 5 piece oxidized steel plate sculpture, with exterior p.m. lighting

At 64 feet, this piece is one of Serra's tallest sculptures, second only to his 80-foot high piece in Doha, Qatar.  Fabricated in Germany, the 20-foot diameter base allows space between the torqued steel plates so that pedestrians can walk through the sculpture.
Serra's sculpture was commissioned by Elizabeth and Henry Segerstrom as the focal point of the Segerstrom Center's 2006 expansion.
