Sisyphus, a king of Ephyra in Ancient Greek mythology, was punished by the gods for his self-aggrandizement and deceitfulness, and was fated to continuously roll a boulder up a mountainside. Upon nearly reaching the top, the boulder would always slip away and roll back down.
This sculpture is part of the City of Beverly Hills' sculpture collection on the Burton Way median, in company with: "Love Anatomy" "World On Its Hind Legs" "Folded Square - Alphabet G"
