DESCRIPTION:  10.5-foot high by 50.5-inch diameter polished stainless steel and colored glass sculpture, mounted on a 21-inch high by 32-inch square tapered ceramic mosaic-faced plinth 

Hoyes' sculpture presents both the abstract double helix form and two stylized birds in flight.  His sculpture on the theme of diversity is mounted above a tapered plinth displaying the word in ceramic mosaic.  The sculpture includes p.m. lighting.
The Pillars of Palm Springs installation follows a 3/4-mile stretch of Tahquitz Canyon Way from Palm Springs City Hall to Sunrise Way, and is the largest and most comprehensive public art project initiated by the Palm Springs Public Art Commission.  It was dedicated on World Art Day, April 15, 2024.   For information on the entire installation of six sculptures, see  Pillars of Palm Springs.
