DESCRIPTION:   18-foot high by 68-inch by 48-inch painted fiberglass sculpture, mounted on a 36-foot high by 68-inch by 49-inch cast concrete plinth 
According to the CRA/LA, the design of this sculpture is a "deceptively simple knot," and it was placed as a welcoming entrance to Weller Court by symbolizing "ideas of unity between two cultures."  
Shinkichi Tajiri constructed this fiberglass sculpture in 1972 with the title Square Knot, and it was renamed when donated as a Bicentennial gift to the City of Los Angeles by the Friends of Little Tokyo Arts on August 5, 1981.  It is surrounded by sculptural cast concrete bollards, and is adjacent to the Space Shuttle Challenger Memorial.
