DESCRIPTION:   15-foot high  by 5.5-foot diameter painted plate steel and steel pole sculpture, representing the theme of "community" 

MIDABI's "direction sign" sculpture represents the theme of community and is the second of six sculptures for the Pillars of Palm Springs installation.    Artist's statement:  "Early in my life I established a deep commitment to divergent acts in hopes of attaining uncommon insight into the nature of reality. I utilize the power of text and compose my findings into an artistic practice as a means of sharing information: philosophical public intervention."  - MIDABI
The Pillars of Palm Springs installation follows a 3/4-mile stretch of Tahquitz Canyon Way from Palm Springs City Hall to Sunrise Way, and is the largest and most comprehensive public art project initiated by the Palm Springs Public Art Commission to date.  It was dedicated on World Art Day, April 15, 2024.   For information on the entire installation of six sculptures, see  Pillars of Palm Springs
