"Uptown Rocker" (1986) by Lloyd Hamrol

DESCRIPTION:  35-foot high by 65-foot long by 4-foot wide painted steel and concrete sculpture

COMMENT:  At its installation, the Los Angeles Times described Lloyd Hamrol's $113,000 sculpture as depicting "a parade of brightly colored cars speeding along an arc of concrete that might have broken lose from the street."  Hamrol himself called it "the playful treatment of an exasperating, everyday subject."
