Joe Hill - I.W.W. Monument (2017)

 DESCRIPTION:  95.5-inch wide by 45-inch high by 3.5-inch deep cast bronze relief sculpture of notable Industrial Workers of the World activist Joe Hill 

This relief sculpture is a monument to Swedish-American musician and activist Joe Hill (born Joel Emmanuel Hägglund) and to the history and achievements of the I.W.W.  The relief sculpture shows Hill with his guiltar, flanked by scenes of strife from early I.W.W. history.  At the lower right is a Joe Hill quotation asserting the power of the American industrial worker (see detail below).  See also Eugene Daub.
This monument is adjacent to Angels Beacon (1994) installed in the exterior rotunda of the Port of Los Angeles Administration building.
